Our goal is not only to give our students a solid academic background, but to prepare our student's total environment, raising their developmental awareness to extend beyond the classroom. The Montessori method allows us to focus on the individual needs of each student. Close, family-like relationships are developed in the classroom. Students are taught values as well as academics. The Montessori method advocates teaching children to be "Motivated toward productivity and not stifled into passivity." This concept lends itself to developing students that acquire and keep an interest in learning, and who are responsible and self disciplined.
Pine Island Montessori is located on a beautiful 5-acre campus full of learning opportunities. Our students always enjoy our playing on our sprawling jungle gym; they love to race down its parallel slides, clamber up its climbing wall, and spin down its spiral slide. Splashing in the pool's cool, soothing waters is a favorite activity on hot summer days, but a high fence ensures that students can only swim during well supervised swim sessions. Our two gentle horses are always looking for someone to pat them on the nose or a scratch behind their ears. We provide horsemanship (year-round) and swimming (summers) at no additional charge. Optional activities offered include: karate, piano, and Mad Science®.
